I came across the above quote (As quoted in Coco Chanel: Her Life, Her Secrets (1971) by Marcel Haedrich) and I felt that the quote is so valid even today. Moreover, with the way technology is advancing with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning - most of the tasks which are done by humans will be replaced by machines for carrying out those tasks.
Change is already happening everywhere. Next time, any of you visit a supermarket - take a closer look at the checking counters. Slowly machines are taking over the checkout counters and in some cases, I also saw shopping carts are now enabled to do the billing when the customer is putting the products in the cart.
Technology is and will be impacting our lives in a big way. Most jobs - which are repetitive in nature are bound to be replaced by machines and it might happen sooner than later. At this juncture, whatever skills we have or whatever tasks we undertake have to be irreplaceable & unique.
This applies to everyone - whether you are a student or a working professional, consultant or anyone - who is offering their services. What is in it for the people - who hire you or engage you?
