Opening Play
Canada’s Wonderland, Toronto - June 2017.
It was a sunny day in June, the kind of day when the sky feels endless and possibilities stretch wide.
I stood at the base of the Xtreme SkyFlyer, a Skycoaster that lifts you 150 feet into the air before letting you drop into a sweeping arc.
The climb was steady, the view breathtaking, the silence at the top almost unbearable. Then came the release — sudden, raw, & exhilarating. The ground rushed away, the air roared, and for a few minutes, there was only the thrill of being suspended between fear and freedom.
That day taught me something lasting: focus on today, because yesterday is gone and tomorrow is uncertain.
Life urges us to take chances, to play and explore without fear. The only limit is the sky. Doubts only weigh us down; letting go opens the door to possibility. Hesitation stretches fear longer than it needs to be. Action dissolves it in an instant.

Global Play
Life often mirrors that ride, though in subtler ways. Our “drops” come in the form of decisions we delay, conversations we avoid, and responsibilities we keep pushing aside. The feeling of being suspended at the top — caught between what we know and what we fear — is universal.
Over time, I’ve learned that the healthiest way forward is to travel light. Personally, I never try to carry issues with anyone. If a misunderstanding arises, I go back, clarify, and move on. Not because I expect everyone to change, but because grudges only weigh down the spirit. If someone refuses to mend their ways, I don’t hold on to them. I focus on resolving the situation at hand and release the rest.
That clarity applies to relationships as much as it does to work. Life isn’t free of knots — strings get tangled, expectations collide, and emotions complicate the picture. Some ties lift us, others test us. Some days we win, other days we stumble. There will be tears, and there will be pearls. But progress doesn’t come from complaint or resentment; it comes from the courage to untangle patiently and keep moving forward.
Like the swing of the SkyFlyer, life carries both fear and freedom in the same arc. The challenge is to lean into both, without letting bitterness take root or hesitation take hold.
Takeaway Insights — Personal
- Focus on today — yesterday is gone, tomorrow is uncertain.
- Don’t carry grudges; if conflict arises, clarify and move on.
- Accept people and realities as they are, without trying to control them.
- Travel light — release what doesn’t serve you and keep your spirit unbroken.
- Progress is not avoiding the fall, but flying again when the string frays.
Takeaway Insights — Business
- Every day presents a “frog” — tackle the hardest, most important task first.
- Seek clarity over busyness — avoid doing unimportant things very well.
- Issues in teams or partnerships are like tangled strings; resolve them early instead of delaying.
- Not everyone will change; focus on the situation, set boundaries, and move forward.
- Combine discipline and passion — discipline drives results, passion inspires people.
Closing Play
The SkyFlyer was just an amusement ride.
Life is the real freefall. And in both, the answer is the same: lean in with discipline, carry passion, and refuse to let fear or bitterness define your path.
If you’d like a practical framework for practicing this, Brian Tracy’s Eat That Frog is worth exploring. His advice is timeless: start with the hardest, most important thing, and the rest of the day feels lighter.
Whether you’re 150 feet in the air or untangling the puzzles of daily life, the lesson remains clear: don’t wait, don’t hold on to grudges. Take the plunge, clarify, and keep moving forward with an unbroken spirit.
